  1. Highlight training as an investment. Initial costs might be high, but in terms of employee development, your team should be stressing the fact that training is key to investing in and developing the people who power your company.
  2. Focus on your requirements. Determine which skills need to improve, and what sort of time frame is required for the training goals to be achieved.
  3. Foster a culture of learning. Your team should know that your company cares about boosting their skills, and that employees are encouraged to be involved in it.
  4. Involve management. Managers and company leaders should also be part of any new training program, thereby growing support for training efforts.
  5. Start off small and improve efforts slowly. Try putting some training principles to the test with a smaller group to get feedback on your efforts. From there, you can take it further and expand it to the rest of the company.
  6. Choose instructors wisely. Trainers should be skilled, professional and able to bring across a high rate of learning success, while training material should also be of high quality.
  7. Choose the location carefully. Make sure that your training area has plenty of space to accommodate participants, and that projection equipment and other resources such note pads, writing materials and hot drinks are available
  8. Simplify your goals. Employees should know why they are being trained, and how the training (and processes being learnt) is connected to your greater objectives. Rewarding those who do well is also important.
  9. Training should be continuous. Every employee will benefit from training at any given level. This means that you should not just concentrate on new employees but also regularly train all current employees.
  10. Keep track of results. Without monitoring, no training program can truly succeed. Choose your metrics wisely – whether these are related to performance or company progress – and establish results to determine ROI.                                                                                                                                                                                               Aside from improving performance and quality management, training also helps employees by increasing their sense of job security by making them feel part of the company. Training even acts as a good employee attraction tool – a number of potential employees see training as an important aspect when deciding which company to choose.

All in all, improving your training efforts works to improve everything from employee happiness to quality management, making it all the more essential to develop a strategy that works.
